Valentine's Day or Galentine's Day: There Is Plenty Of Love To Go Around

Happy day of love! At least that’s how I like to think of it. Whether it is Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day for you, I hope you are feeling and spreading the love in some type of way. Whether you are single or in a relationship, I think everyone feels a certain level of pressure around this holiday. If you are single, you may be constantly reminded through the annoying advertisements of romantic specials or the loved up couples talking about what their plans are for the romantic day. If you are celebrating with someone special, maybe you are feeling the pressure of wanting to get the perfect gift or plan the perfect day.

However, regardless if you are spending the day with your lover or having a girls night with your best friend, this day is all about celebrating the love you have for those in your life. I am going on a little coffee date with my best friend from high school. Even though we are both single this year, we decided that we want to feel the love too so why not treat ourselves to something sweet.

One thing I do love about this holiday is the many different ways in which you can show your love to those around you. My family tends to be very cheesy around the holidays so we love sending cards to each other. It is so simple but means a lot to receive a cute card in the mail. An aunt who I do not get to see very often always sends me a sort of care package for Valentine’s day. This year it was a box of chocolates and a cute jacket. Although material items are not necessary, it does feel nice to be thought about.

Valentine’s Day has become so commercialized with all of the items that different companies and stores want you to buy. However, at the end of the day, I am sure whoever you are spending the day with would much rather have some quality time than receive a big, dramatic gift.

I know this year still looks a little different amidst a pandemic, but find a way to feel the love on February 14th. If you are spending it alone, show a little appreciation to yourself and do whatever you want. Buy that box of chocolates, that bouquet of flowers, or that pretty necklace. Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo
