Importance Of A Good Skincare Routine
Creating healthy habits and routines can sometimes be quite tricky. We always start with gusto and excitement and then slowly over time, we lose that motivation and decide to skip a day. But we have to love the skin we’re in! Taking care of our bodies both inside and out is essential for our physical and mental well-being. I get it. After a long day of work, we don’t feel like going through all of the steps of cleaning our faces, we just want to go to bed. But I promise you, your skin will thank you later.
I am not a certified dermatologist or esthetician, but I am someone who struggles with acne prone skin and has dealt with so many different skin problems, I could write a book. Once I adapted a skincare routine and found products that work for me, I saw a major improvement in my skin and my self-esteem. Now, you are not going to see results right away. Be patient. If you keep up the good work and keep using those beneficial products, your skin will be glowing in no time.
Some of the products I swear by are Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and C serums. Niacinamide, and sunscreen. Hyaluronic Acid can boost the hydration your skin needs and plumps your skin to reduce fine lines. Vitamin C and E serums can help fight against agents that age skin. Niacinamide calms redness and irritation while also improving acne with antimicrobial effects. Finally, sunscreen is vital to help fight against those harmful rays. Even if you don’t plan on being outside that day, looking at a computer can be just as harmful to your skin!
Let me take you through my skincare routine just as an example. Every morning, I wash my face with my favorite cleanser, the Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser with benzoyl peroxide. If you struggle with acne, I highly recommend this product. I then move onto The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid serum, and then I apply moisturizer. Two moisturizers I am using at the moment are Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer and Cerave moisturizing cream. Finally, I apply my Neutrogena Clear Face spf 30 sunscreen.
In the evening, I remove my makeup with either the Garnier Micellar cleansing water or a new product I am trying and loving, the Bad Habit Acai Nightly Cleansing Balm. This balm feels great on the skin and very environmentally friendly with only your hands required to apply. I then go in with my face wash and then toner just to make sure all the makeup residue has been washed away. I then apply a Niacinamide serum and then go in with a moisturizer or facial oil. My favorite one at the moment is the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, your face feels so soft and looks so glowy when you wake up the next morning. Plus, it smells amazing!
Finding a skincare routine that suits you involves a couple of steps. If you are new to the skincare world, there are 3 main things you must follow. Make sure to wash your face with a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. Then tone your face to balance the skin and lastly, make sure to use a moisturizer that will hydrate and soften the skin. A major step in finding a skincare routine is understanding your own skin. Talk to your dermatologist or consult with a local beauty or skin specialist and walk through the steps to seeing better skin!
