Interviewing Sarah Capponi of "The CEO Momcast"
We recently had a chat with Sarah Capponi of The CEO Momcast to get some insight on her work. Read below to find out more!
What inspired you to start your own business, and how has that initial inspiration evolved as your company has grown?
Myself! At first I started it as a creative way to get to know people. I love getting to know people and often wonder the how, why, and what they do, especially moms! It fascinated me that there are so many women who have children, run successful businesses, work out, etc., and still seem to have it all together. My inspiration has still stayed the same, if not increased as it seems with society ever changing moms and women in general have to take on so much while still looking like it is effortless and they are not exhausted.
What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced as an entrepreneur, and how have you overcome them?
The biggest challenge has been my own time. I am not great at balancing my time—I overcommit and quite often end up with too much on my plate. One of the things I have heard from so many women that I interview is that it is all about balance. This is something that I am still learning three years in, but I have learned to set boundaries with my time, say no to things that I don't feel I can give my all to, and have grown to love my Google calendar so much for scheduling my whole life—I don't know what I would do without it.
Can you share a pivotal moment or decision that significantly impacted the trajectory of your business?
Something that really changed my trajectory was linking up with The Modern Day Wife. I do not usually put myself out there and the first year that I went to Arizona I procrastinated so badly on booking my flight as I was trying to talk myself out of going. Once I got there, I felt like it was somewhere that I was supposed to be. I met so many amazing women, connected with them, and since then have been introduced to many through The Modern Day Wife and their events.
In today's rapidly changing market landscape, how do you stay innovative and adaptable to ensure your business remains competitive?
This has been a hard one for me as I am not big on change if there is something that works. Now that I have tackled my time issues and feel like I have more balance, this upcoming season is all about growth. I will be transferring to a video platform for my podcast recordings and I have hired a marketing and media management team to help with increasing listenership, promotion and social media presence. I used to think that I can do it all, and by all intents I can; however, if I want to do it all well and grow my platform I need help and this year I am taking that advice myself and growing.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are just starting their own journey?
Trust the process. One day you will be told no and feel like you are getting nowhere and the next you will get a yes and you will feel like you are on cloud nine. And the key is recognizing that feeling and taking advantage of it—which I did. When I got the yes I felt like I was not going to get another no, so I sold myself better and I reached out to people that I never would have before and I stayed positive about it, which in turn was positive for me and my brand.
