The Vault Member Spotlight: Taylor Rae
Meet Vault Member: Taylor Rae, a full-time content creator! She partners with her favorite brands to create content that speaks to their respective audiences.
While fashion is Taylor’s primary focus, she shares all things life, style and cheer. Taylor was a cheerleader for most of her life and now creates commentary on it. When Taylor was in college, she started competing in pageants. “I was Miss Atlanta 2017 and it was through my preparations for Miss Georgia USA, that I learned about partnerships and sponsorships. If I grew my social media, local businesses would have more incentive to give me clothes, fundraising opportunities etc. I created HUGE opportunities for myself such as doing the first Chop at an Atlanta Braves game, being featured on the cover with an article in "Simply Buckhead" magazine and on local news station CBS46.”
In fact, Taylor made her leap into the social media realm through pageantry. Taylor goes onto explain more about her journey, “Once I graduated, I moved to Newport Beach, California and began my career in IT. Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2020, like a lot of Americans, I found myself out of a job. What I thought would be temporary seemed to continue and I thought, if I have to be at home... why don't I just go for it? I had an audience of about 10,000, a degree in journalism, and the time to try so, I went for it. My first brand partnership was with a dream brand, ‘Red Dress.’ I have learned a lot as I've grown and networked with other women in the same industry."
Taylor creates content for brands through photos and video content. She is biracial and describes herself as a “proud transplant, I love SoCal, but I try to stay authentic to the Georgia girl I am at heart who is open, real and worthy."
Taylor says, “I love being my own boss and making my own schedule. It can be stressful at times because you could always have a bad month where business is slow, but I genuinely love the flexibility because I'm growing a business I can run as a mom one day.” She also gave us tips on balancing work and personal life: “My tip for balancing it all is to WRITE. IT. DOWN. I have a big paper desk calendar that is color coded by activities, green is a photoshoot, blue is medical, purple is for my dog, red is brand deadlines, etc. Organization goes a long way in overall well-being. I noticed a lot of my anxiety go away once I started writing everything down.” We love this!
While we see Taylor’s take control of her new journey in social media, she has also dealt with personal struggles in the past. She tells us about those struggles as she details: “Losing my job was one of the worst things to ever happen to me. Having divorced parents, I watched my mom truly be the hardest worker. She somehow balanced a career, getting a Masters degree, working out everyday all while raising two children in elementary school. I wanted to be independent and I was truly hitting all of my goals. I want to say that all of my insecurities and self doubt have dwindled over the past two years, but it still affects me. I know everything happens for a reason and I wouldn't be sitting here with the opportunities I have created for myself if I was still working my corporate job.”
