What inspired you to start your own business, and how has that initial inspiration evolved as your company has grown?

I've always loved creating, whether it be within my home, singing, acting, or having friendships and family. There is an abundance of creative possibilities in life, and being an actor was the one I decided upon as a job because it gave me the opportunity to create new worlds and new ideas for others to think about. To get to be other people and have a greater understanding of others. These are all thoughts and skills I have accumulated along my career. The initial reason to start was based on the pure fun of doing it. I think when you start from a place of joy, you will have the persistence to continue no matter what.

What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced as an entrepreneur, and how have you overcome them?

Staying focused and disciplined.

Being your own boss requires discipline to show up for yourself and your company. You aren't answering to someone else, so you have to put your own feet to the fire on the days where you may not feel as inspired. I think setting goals, having targets, and writing them down to look at what you need to do daily keeps you focused. Also having a good group around you, to bounce your ideas and goals off of.

Being an actor, you can feel alone between jobs, but you do have great resources in friends and fellow actors. For me that has been being a part of an acting class, The Acting Center is my go to spot to create with others. I also have support in my friends and we consult with each other on our careers and what things are working and what isn't. It's a lot more fun to do this along side others. Modern Day Wife events give you the opportunity to connect and create a group to work alongside, seminars, and find out places to go practice the skills you need for your job.

Can you share a pivotal moment or decision that significantly impacted the trajectory of your business?

Moving to Los Angeles. I was working in Canada steadily and my husband and I were looking at the future. Where did we see ourselves? We decided to make the move, so we could expand into another market, while maintaining our Canadian careers also. It was a big risk, but it opened up a lot of things for us both, creatively and personally.

In today's rapidly changing market landscape, how do you stay innovative and adaptable to ensure your business remains competitive?

With being an artist, I think my main strength is who I am and what makes me different from anyone else. How I think and see a project will not be the same as another actor. I make sure I invest in myself. I am the product, physically and mentally. Also staying up to date with ways of communicating, using the best technologies for promoting and producing my work. You are the source of your company's productsinvesting in you should be number one, from as simple as keeping one's health at 100% to learning more about your job, practicing the different skills you need to have, studying those who are more successful than you at it and learning about life itself.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are just starting their own journey?

Just start! You don't need it all to be perfect to begin, you'll make it better and better as you learn and grow.
